Simple Woman...

FOR TODAY

January 11, 2010

Outside my window...  There is snow, snow and more snow that has turned to rock hard ice.  The temps are brrrrrrr.....

I am thinking...  Summer would be really nice about now.  I long for warmth and for my toes to stop being so cold.

I am thankful for...  The love of Jesus Christ.

From the learning rooms...  We will being school in about 30 minutes.  I will work with the 5th grader and everyone else will be on their own... for the most part.  Later we will do a short pre-school lesson.

From the kitchen...  Little people are eating yogurt and muffins for breakfast... and washing it down with apple juice.

I am wearing...  Jeans that are 3 sizes too big... I need to do laundry and they are sooooo comfy!

I am creating...  a home that will be a refuge for my children and my husband.

I am going... to be THANKFUL for each and every day God gives me.

I am reading...  Genesis.

I am hoping...  that my husband comes home feeling energetic.

I am hearing...  whispers and a dog whining.  He is cold and wants to come inside, but no one has made it to the door yet.  I am hearing a little girl enter a room she is not allowed to enter... her brothers room.

Around the house...  Kids are getting dressed, brushing teeth, finishing breakfast...

One of my favorite things...  warm toes.

A few plans for the rest of the week:  Be as encouraging to my family as I can be.  Smile more.  Laugh more.

Simple Woman...

December 28, 2009...

Outside my window...  The smallest snowflakes... EVER... are falling.

I am thinking...  That I wish I wasn't getting ready to drive Cadi to the airport.

I am thankful for...  the family time we all shared this week.  I am so glad Cadi was able to be here and be a part of it.

From the learning rooms...  I am learning to let go of "perfect".

From the kitchen...  life is trying to return to normal.  Regular food... and an end to the chocolate!

I am wearing...  jeans and a maroon top.

I am creating...  a "not too tearful" goodbye for Cadi.

I am going...  to the airport in SLC.

I am reading...  nothing.

I am hoping...  for a great, relaxing week.

I am hearing...  the wii, and wrestling children.

A quote I am thinking of...  "Love Bears All Things..."

Around the house...  I am still trying to clean up the holiday mess.

One of my favorite things...  the sunshine...

This week...  I plan to clean my house and get it back to its normal state.  I plan to encourage my children to relax and enjoy their time off from their studies.

Simple Woman...

December 21, 2009...

Outside my window...  It is snowy and foggy.

I am thinking... That I will be leaving to get Cadi in 1 1/2 hours... and this makes me very happy.

I am thankful for... Family being together for the holidays.

From the learning rooms... Literature (the tempest) and Bible.

From the kitchen...  french toast casserole and eggs... and needing to clean it!

I am wearing... blue jeans and a green striped long sleeve shirt.

I am creating... a restful place for the holidays, even in the midst of stress and real financial issues.

I am going... to SLC to the airport.

I am reading... proverbs

I am hoping... that we hear from our worker today and get a new placement.

I am hearing... toy car tires turning, small children's voices singing christmas carols, pencil and paper as school is being finished.

A quote I am thinking... Laugh as much as you breathe and love as long as you live.

Around the house... small messes where children have been... a lived in home.

One of my favorite things... hearing happy voices.

The Simple Woman's Daybook...

FOR TODAY 1/26/09

Outside my window... Winter still has it's hold on our part of the country. Although we have seen quite a bit of fog and rain instead of pure snow.

I am thinking... that healing can be a serious lesson in learning some patience.

I am thankful for... love.

From the learning rooms... we are studying the periodic table of elements and the 8th president of the United States of America.

From the kitchen... We will be having chicken tacos.

I am wearing... a jean skirt and brown shirt.

I am creating... an atmosphere of love.

I am going... absolutely nowhere.

I am reading... Bridges of Alaska.

I am hoping... to be up and moving around before many more days go by.

I am hearing... the quiet of a house where 3 of the 8 children are out.

Around the house... kids are playing games, painting art, and braiding hair.

One of my favorite things... hearing and reading about other large families. It is amazing how many things we all seem to have in common.

A few plans for the rest of the week: Heal, take it as easy as I can manage. Rent Fireproof.

Outside my window...

The snow continues to blanket...everything. It is coming down faster than we can shovel.

I am thinking...

I am so anxious for my back to heal so that I can be a contributing member of this family again.

I am thankful for...

My family, who loves me no matter what.

From the learning rooms...

We studied atoms, electrons and nuetrons.

From the kitchen...

I smell toasted bread.

I am wearing...

a black skirt and striped 3/4 sleeve shirt.

I am creating...

a loving home.

I am going...

to begin standing for longer periods of time in the hopes that it will "help" my back.

I am reading...

about William Shakespeare.

I am hoping...

to be healed by the weekend (major wink).

I am hearing...

the sound of a fan blowindg downstairs to dry the area affected by the burst pipe.

Around the house...

all is quiet since it is nap time for the little ones... although I am not sure they are really sleeping.

One of my favorite things...

is having a real conversation with my kids.

A few plans for the rest of the week:

Do as much as Mark will allow me to do. Get the ceiling and wall repaired... by hubby. Try to manage this massive amount of snow.

Here is picture thought I am sharing...

...to remind all of those, like me, that are currently snowed in, what a summers evening looks like.
