Ouch...

Our little man ran straight into Miranda's guitar today.
It is actually a lot deeper than this picture shows, but not deep enough to need stitches.

He is very proud of his owie.
... and very angry at Miranda's guitar.

Fallen Leaves...

A boy is about discovery. Our little man discovered that leaves can be a lot of fun!
You can sit in them, hide in them or...

Toss them in the air.
There are so many things for a boy to discover.

He smiles...

I was reminiscing about summer while we were cleaning the house this morning.
My favorite memories from this past summer absolutely have
to be watching this little man run, jump, splash, dig and generally
have a blast while at the beach.
The smile on his face warms me to my core!
He doesn't put on "the face" the way adults have learned to.
When is is sad, he cries.
When is is mad, he stomps.
But when he is overflowing with joy...
He smiles!

If you haven't noticed, I have discovered a new photo editing site...so, yes, you will have to put up with my new discoveries while I play with my photos. I am having a really great time messing around with the pictures!

Just like his Daddy...

Okay, so the smile...?
We call it the evil smile. (because we know what lurks behind it)
He can be crying one second and you can take the camera out and Bam!
He gives you this wonderful, strange, beautiful, overdone, joyful smile.
He is such a little camera hog!
He loves having his picture taken, but...
You had better take it fast!
This boy is not about to stand around and
wait while you mess with the camera.
He has places to go and people to see.
So, most of the pictures you get of this little guy are not useable.
They are mere blurs as he runs from spot to spot.
I am told that he is just like his daddy was at this age...
Good!
Then I know he will be a good man.

A man's day...

Last Wednesday, was the day from h-e-double hockey sticks.
My brother, who moved in late January,
had the movers coming to his storage
unit here in our hometown to load his belongings.
That meant that either my sweet hubby or myself
had to meet them and unlock the unit.
Somehow, the stinking key wouldn't fit in the lock.
Grrr. Yark. Snap...boom...ARRRRRR!
After a couple of trips, driving back and forth,
we finally decided to just have the guy come and cut the dumb lock off.
(...because they wouldn't let us cut if off ourselves...)
The movers had shown up three hours late.
However, they felt that they had every right to make a big deal about the thirty minutes or so they were having to wait on us.
What a bunch of yahoos.
My little man accompanied his daddy to the storage place,
skipping his nap...
because this is what men do... ofcourse.
Once he returned home, sleep was not to be avoided.
"Leave me alone." He said.
So, we did.

cowboy and Tigger...

Look at my sweet cowboy...
He was so excited when he got to wear Daddy's hat.
This little man is getting big so fast, talking up a storm and GULP...
going to be 3 next month!
(Deep breath, wipe the sweat from my brow and try not to cry!)
He has recently fallen in love with Tigger from Winnie the Poo.
He bounces around the entire house saying,
"Look Mama, I'm Tigger!"
I know you are, love...
And for a little longer,
(as long as I can stretch it out...)
You will continue to be Tigger or Spiderman or an elephant or...
...anything you want to be!

smile?...

So, umm...Yeah, this is what you get when you ask this little man to smile.
Hmmm...
It's a little scary, if you ask me.

I can do it!

Wasn't it just yesterday that this little man needed his mama to help him do... well, everything?

Oh, how the time flies.

Now this little man is very fond of saying things like, "I can do it.".

Part of me is so very proud of the way this amazing little creature is changing and growing. I can almost see the amazing man he will be one day.

There is another part, however, that wants him to remain small forever.

In those moments, though, I think about all of the amazing things I have watched his sisters accomplish.

I remember those hugs, kisses and, yes, even the fights that make our history what it is.

I think of the pride I have in how hardworking my children have become and I know he will follow in their footsteps.

I can imagine the woman he will one day call his wife and the children who will call him daddy.

Even though I am sad to see his sweet little cherub face change into that of a little boy, I can't wait to see the man he is becoming.

I want to know that man.

I want that man to know how very much his mommy loves him and cherishes each day God gives us together.

Look Momma...

Disgusting? Yes!
I can't believe this little man is already doing this stuff.
My girls didn't catch on to the "Look" game until they went to school.
It is hard to believe sometimes that this is the same little man who loves to hold my hand and snuggle up with me in the evening and who told me... "Put you head on my shoulder, Momma."

Weekend stuff...

While the hubby and I were out today, the girls made some chocolate, chocolate chip cookies. After church we drove about an hour from our house to a newish IKEA.
I just wanted to see what all of the fuss is about.
Yeah, I could do without it. I know some people love all of that modern stuff, but not me.

They did like playing with the trains though.

Last night, while sitting on the couch with my little man,

he said...

"Momma, put you head on my shoulder."

Awwww... How could I resist?

Then we vegged out watching the Olympics.

Shhh...

Quiet...
You have to sneak up on this little man to get a picture.
Unless, of course, you want another photo of this gorgeous man posing with his amazing smile.
I like to catch him "reading".
He makes me smile. (especially now that he is reading in his cute little underwear with flames all over them.)
